The Fibre 03

The pashmina goat carries a double coat: a coarse outer layer of guard hair produced by primary follicles, and a fine inner down produced by secondary follicles. The fine down of the secondary follicles is the fibre commercially termed pashmina or cashmere; the guard hair is separated from it before processing.
